Autism Society San Diego families offered insight and practice on what happens on gamedays

SAN DIEGO - Feb. 11, 2022 - PRLog -- The San Diego Padres are excited to invite members of the Autism Society San Diego (ASSD) to Petco Park on Sunday, March 13, 2022 for a "Behind the Scenes" preview event. The event gives families with people on the Autism spectrum the opportunity to expand their experiences around the ballpark.

The Padres are proud to support the ASSD's mission statement of "empowering everyone in the Autism community" by guiding the families through tasks and processes that would be happening on gameday from going through a "light" bag check to visiting the Ballpark Eats section to sitting in terrace level seats and checking out the suites. The event is meant to give exposure to the stadium in a safe way that resonates with individuals on the spectrum while easing any fears or concerns the families might have.

"While parenting is largely an intuitive endeavor, there will always be situations and conditions that we cannot prepare for," says ASSD president Dustin Tracy. "This event, in conjunction with the San Diego Padres, will feature a ton of learning opportunities and experiences that help reinforce the importance of practice and safety. Our goal is to empower individuals and families while educating them on the processes to navigate through a home game."
