The energy company has secured new partnership agreements for its $1.2 billion methanol production and processing facility: a 20-year deal with Macquarie Group to commercialize and market its low-carbon methanol to the chemical, maritime, manufacturing, and industrial sectors, and a collaboration with CapturePoint to collect and transport CO2 from the facility to a class VI well site in Central Louisiana.

With world-class commercial partners and its Front-End Engineering Design study complete, Bia Energy’s low-carbon methanol project is shovel-ready, with financial close expected this year and commercial operations scheduled to begin in 2026.
“Bia Energy’s investment has the potential to create a large number of well-paying permanent jobs and stimulate economic activity all across North Louisiana, and that would be a win for the entire state,” said Susan Bonnett-Bourgeois, Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development, in a statement.
Bia Energy's methanol production and processing facility, located at the port of Caddo-Bossier, is primed to produce 550,000 metric tons of blue and bio-methanol per year and create approximately 465 jobs in Louisiana’s Northwest region. The facility will contain state-of-the-art docks, tank farms, and piping at the port complex.
Committed to reducing the carbon footprint in the chemical and marine transportation industries, Bia Energy’s facility is designed to decrease carbon emissions by over 92% compared to traditional methanol production, using clean hydrogen production and permanent carbon sequestration.
