Key discussions and presentations engaged with senior healthcare leaders, including Dr. Jean Accius, CEO of Creating Healthier Communities, who highlighted trends in senior tech innovation and care at home. Susan Janeczko, Deputy Director of Outpatient Care at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), shared insights into evolving CMS reimbursement policies. Additionally, Martha Roherty, Executive Director of ADvancing States, spoke to the latest trends in Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) and the expanding use of Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) within Managed Care Programs.

The conference brought together industry experts to exchange ideas, share innovative solutions, and collaborate on creating an environment that supports the safety, independence, and well-being of the growing senior population.

"This year's conference demonstrated our industry's commitment to both technological advancement and advocacy for aging adults," said MAMA President Geoff Gross. "As our aging population becomes one of the largest demographics in the U.S., the need for innovative monitoring solutions and strong policy support becomes increasingly crucial."

Gross, founder and CEO of Medical Guardian, was named president of MAMA this year, marking a new chapter for the organization as they place a greater emphasis on advocacy in healthcare for aging adults, individuals with disabilities, and those with chronic conditions.

During the annual conference, MAMA presents their “Champion for Aging” award to an individual who exemplifies MAMA’s mission to serve and protect aging adults. 2024’s “Champion for Aging” was awarded to Senator Bob Casey for his ongoing commitment to the well-being of older Americans in his role as Chair of the Senate Committee on Aging.

"Honoring Senator Casey as our 2024 ‘Champion for Aging’ is a fitting recognition of his dedication and efforts," said Gross. "Since his election in 2006, he has been a leading advocate for aging adults, continuing the tradition of setting a high standard for recipients of this award."

MAMA is dedicated to celebrating and working with leaders who have a profound impact on the lives of those they serve and protect: aging adults and individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions. For more information, please visit www.mama.org
