UK Based Green Space Technology Firm, Space Resources Laboratory, at The Forefront to Tackle The Growing Problem of Space Debris Opens Seed Round of Investment

By: Get News

With millions of pieces of discarded rocket parts, satellites, and other space junk orbiting the earth, space debris has become a growing concern. They pose a massive threat to spacecraft and active satellites and can affect both, the earth's and space environment. In a bid to tackle this problem, green space technology firm, Space Resources Laboratory, is trying to make a difference.

SRL's products are designed to be modular but they also offer bespoke designs to meet the specific requirements of customers. SRL's CubeSat structures are designed to be lightweight, durable and customisable and can accommodate a wide range of payloads. The CubeSat deployers are designed to deploy CubeSats into space, while the propulsion systems are engineered to provide efficient and precise manoeuvring in orbit. The ADCS systems, including magnetorquer coils, provide accurate and reliable control over the orientation and positioning of the satellite.

Their tagline says, “SPACE IS FOR ALL”

They are therefore developing an electric propulsion system that is capable of attitude control of satellites as well as trigger a deorbiting manoeuvre at the end-of-life of the satellite thereby preventing further accumulation of space debris. They have opened a seed round to fund their responsible space operations mission. They have opened their seed round of investment to scale up the company. Prior to this they have raised pre-seed round of $330k and bagged a grant of $65k from the EU.

They have a versatile team headed by CEO Subham, who holds a master's in Astronautics and Space Engineering and a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. He is endorsed as an Exceptional Talent by the Royal Academy of Engineering and the UK Government. Space Resources Laboratory was named the Aerospace Company of the Year 2022 and the CEO was featured on AI Global Media’s CEO Monthly. The company is developing a satellite for Asteroid Mining Corporation based in the UK and they say they can offer the satellite subsystems at very affordable prices for smaller industries.
