Luxury Wedding by Andrew Roby Events Featured in Washingtonian

The magazine praised Roby’s execution of the wedding at DC’s Willard InterContinental, noting its elegant pink and gold theme and attention to “all the opulent details.”

Andrew Roby Events is a premier, black-owned event planning company in DC, Dallas, and Los Angeles. The company’s grand execution of a luxurious pink and gold ballroom wedding at the Willard InterContinental made headlines in Washingtonian for its focus on “opulent details.”

Andrew Roby has been planning corporate events, parties, and luxury weddings since 2016. He is known as an “event storyteller” for customizing each event to reflect the people at its center. The Washingtonian called the luxury wedding he created “fairytale-inspired,” and Roby said this was no accident. Rather, it was a reflection of the fairytale romance it celebrated.

The bride and groom came together as 40-somethings who said they had shed the “gauzy fantasies” of first dates. Though both approached the date with some skepticism, that melted away with a magical first encounter. As the bride reported, “Rather than offer my hand for a shake, we folded into each others’ arms.” The connection and chemistry were so immediate, the couple committed to each other within five days of the first date.

The magic of that first date was reflected in every detail of the DC wedding, including the opulent gold paneling and drapes of the Willard InterContinental ballroom; the towering arrangements of pink roses and white hydrangeas; the transparent, Louis XVI-inspired ghost chairs; and the silky pink linens.

“Our goal was to make this wedding as picture perfect as this couple’s love story,” said Roby, who has made a fine art of attention to detail in his luxury wedding planning.

True to his commitment to “the little things,” Roby and his team created wedding favors from stemless glasses filled with rose-gold wrapped candies and a small stem of bubbles, which were released at the couple’s send-off. He also surprised the couple by gifting them a tree that served as a decorative element and also held the wedding’s seating cards.

“The couple originally wanted to have a unique, tree-inspired escort card station, but it was ultimately overshadowed by other things,” said Roby. “I felt they really wanted this and that it would make a great addition and wow factor for them and their guests. We decided to gift it to them, and they had no clue until the moment we showed it to them. This couple is one of the kindest we have ever worked with. Gifting them this tree was a no-brainer.”

The luxurious details were enough to catch the eye of the Washingtonian’s reporters. They featured more than two dozen photos of the wedding in their January 30 article. The Washingtonian has been called the “most trusted guide to living, working, and playing in DC.” It reaches more than a million readers each month.

Andrew Roby won Wedding Wire’s “Couples’ Choice Award” and was selected as one of Brides’ “Best Wedding Planners in America” (one of 104 chosen nationwide). To learn more about Andrew Roby and his event planning services in DC, Dallas, and Los Angeles, visit www.AndrewRobyEvents.com.
