Ms. Gonzales is the current chief executive officer and founder of Door County, Wisconsin-based Jodi Rose Studio, LLC. Her work is informed by Western psychology, nature-based expressive arts therapy, yoga philosophy, and over twenty years of professional experience in community development and the mental health industry. With numerous grant awards and landmark projects to her credit, Ms. Gonzales has unquestionably established herself as an outstanding artist and has played a pivotal role in developing rural community arts and wellness initiatives. Her success and professionalism have marked her career as a dynamic, results-driven leader.

Through Jodi Rose Studio, Ms. Gonzales offers trauma-informed clinical and non-clinical wellness programs supported by research in art therapy, ecotherapy, yoga, neuroscience, and positive psychology. She has curated and implemented over 120 projects and exhibitions, including temporary public art and environmental sculptural installations, as well as one of the largest and most comprehensive exhibits about B-17 Nose Art in the world. Her own imaginative artwork is a visual depiction of the yogic path, told in parable and environmental sculpture from the point of view of a Girl in the Woods. You may follow her on Instagram and Facebook @JodiRose.Studio as well as LinkedIn.

Ms. Gonzales is an engaging speaker who offers art therapy life coaching, online classes, and e-courses in addition to community collaborations, consulting, and program partnerships. Her two books, Drawn to Yoga and the Doodle's Code, debuted at number one in their respective categories on Amazon's New Releases list; Doodle’s Code remained in the top 100 in its category for 32 months. Additionally, she has published a deck of art therapy journal prompt cards titled Drawing on Strengths.

Her impressive repertoire of program partnerships includes the development of STRIDE Creative, a public mental wellness initiative launched during the COVID-19 pandemic. This partnership with United Way of Door County includes the content creation of five on-demand youth and adult wellness programs, a summer youth arts program, and the Mighty Teens Empowerment Project—all focused-on growth mindset and resilience. Past partnership roles include the launch of VisionPerry, a WPA-style youth employment program that addressed economic development in a rural Tennessee county that had the third highest unemployment rate in the US at the time. There, she served as Art Director and oversaw the creation of an arts district by hired resident artists and local youth.

Additional roles include Deputy Director of the 390th Memorial Museum, where she led the Museum in rebranding as the Nation’s Home of the B-17 Flying Fortress, and led the Museum in achieving Core Documents Verification by the American Alliance of Museums in its first steps towards museum accreditation. Meanwhile, as a member of the Arizona Art Therapy Association Board of Directors, she participated in the creation and passing of SB1434 which recommended title protection for art therapists in the State of Arizona. SB 1434 was signed into law by Governor Ducey in May, 2017.

Previously, Ms. Gonzales facilitated artist residencies in schools, and as a jewelry artist-maintained representation at fine art galleries in the Midwest and Southeastern US. She has been the Outreach Director at the Peninsula School of Art, as well as Director of the Guenzel Gallery at the school. She served as the Grants Administrator for the Peninsula Arts Association, an Art Clinician at RCS Empowers Inc., and an expressive arts therapist and youth program director of PSA Art Awakenings. She was also the Primary Art Therapist at the Mirasol Centers for Eating Disorders Recovery.

Before embarking on her current career path, Ms. Gonzales earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication and the Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Later, she received a Master of Arts in expressive art therapy and counseling psychology from Prescott College. She was recognized in 2020 by the Door County Economic Development Corporation for having the Business Plan of the Year. She was listed by UpJourney as a Lifestyle Expert/Beauty Blogger to Follow for 2019 and was recognized as one of the Top Visionary Woman of the New Year by Spirited Woman Magazine.

The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated “Choosing Jodi for this most recent honor was an easy decision for our panel to make. Her brilliance and commitment to the arts is what makes Jodi so deserving of this award. We know we will see more amazing things from this extraordinary woman. We cannot wait to call her name on stage at the Annual Awards Gala in December.”

Looking back, Ms. Gonzales attributes her success to her tenacity and a long list of mentors. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the outdoors. In the future, Ms. Gonzales will continue to be an empowering force of the arts: she has opened an art therapy and yoga retreat center, she hopes to complete more publishing projects, and she continues creating site-specific environmental sculpture.
