"Misplaced" focuses on Buckley's journey through adoption and the abuse he endured. Readers will be particularly interested in Buckley's experiences at the behavior modification school, the Academy at Ivy Ridge, which was featured in the recent Netflix docuseries "The Program: Cons, Cults, and Kidnapping."

This is Buckley's first book. He wrote it to aid in his healing journey and to help others with similar life experiences.

Buckley recounts his tumultuous journey from birth, marked by loss and traumatic changes that led to an abusive father and the manipulation of the Academy at Ivy Ridge. Determined to reclaim his identity amidst coercion, Colin bravely challenges those who seek to mold him into someone he is not.

Despite enduring emotional and physical torment, Colin refuses to remain silent. With unwavering resolve, he asserts his autonomy, striving for reunification with his birth family while resisting the oppressive influence of his adoptive father and Ivy Ridge. His story is a testament to an indomitable spirit that refuses to be extinguished, even in the darkest of circumstances.

Through Colin's narrative, "Misplaced" sheds light on the insidious nature of abuse and the importance of prioritizing children's well-being over the false promises of manipulative organizations.

Colin Buckley is a two-time combat veteran, father, husband, and artist. His varied life experiences, including being adopted at birth, two tours overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, becoming a truck driver, farming, and raising his four kids, have given him a sincere and raw voice behind his work.

Buckley hopes the book will raise awareness about the troubled teen industry. In a recent interview with his local newspaper, he said, "I was a ghost. I just shut up because I noticed everybody who’s loud, they got pinpointed and they had a harder time in the program," referring to his time at Ivy Ridge.
