SIMS PUMP Valve Company, Inc. Unveils an Upgraded Corrosion-Free, High Efficiency 12” X 12” x 21” Fire Pump with SIMSITE® Internals

HOBOKEN, NJ: In a recent video demonstration, SIMS Pump Valve Company President, John A. Kozel, introduced an upgraded 12” Suction with a 12” Discharge fire pump featuring a 17.5” diameter patented SIMSITE® Structural Composite Carbon Fiber Impeller and Casing Rings set with patented SIMSITE® Stabilizing Bushings.  The SIMSITE® Impeller and Casing Ring Set were designed for optimal performance and longevity while improving efficiency!   The SIMSITE® Stabilizing Bushings reduce shaft deflection.

Mr. Kozel’s presentation focuses on the unique features of this pump, which include the engineered design of the new SIMSITE® Impeller & Ring set, which increases efficiency at the Best Efficiency Point (BEP) of 5,000 GPM at 365 Feet of Head at 2100 RPM.   This pump is driven by a 575-horsepower motor.

Like all of SIMS’ pumps, this fire pump impeller was manufactured from SIMS’ patented SIMSITE® structural graphite carbon fiber composite. The pump’s 17.5” diameter impeller & casing rings, and stabilizing bushings are machined on 5 to 8 axis machining centers from solid blocks of patented SIMSITE® composite, ensuring that this pump will have excellent performance with the highest efficiency.

The SIMSITE® Structural Composite makes this fire pump far more efficient than those made with a metallic impeller and ring set, because SIMSITE® impellers and casing rings are 100% machined allowing the impeller vanes to be designed for maximum efficiency & performance while eliminating casting defects, porosity, casting imperfections, and balance issues.  The SIMSITE® structural graphite composite, patented by the Sims Pump Valve Company, Inc., is used in all of their pumps, pump upgrades, and pump overhaul upgrades, making it their key differentiator from metallic pump manufacturers.

SIMSITE® Impellers and Casing Rings are 85% lighter than the weight of metallic impellers and rings reducing shaft deflection and start-up load.  SIMSITE® products never corrode in Seawater, Sewage, Waste Water or Chlorinated Water and are excellent with most chemicals.  SIMSITE® Impellers and Rings offer a substantial reduction in maintenance costs, energy costs, and operational downtime and enable the pump to last much longer!

The structural graphite composite the SIMS PUMP team used is known as SIMSITE®.This patented and highly resilient structural carbon fiber composite is known for its non-corroding qualities, as well as reducing weight, shaft deflection, high radial loading, electrolysis, corrosion problems, and performance deterioration!  All SIMSITE® pump products are machined from solid blocks of the patented structural composite eliminating casting defects, mechanical & hydraulic imbalance problems and making the impellers / pumps much more efficient.  These benefits make SIMSITE® products a superior choice to metallic pump parts; especially in corrosive environments.
