By: Get News
Demonstrating How Doers Get More Done

Fort Worth, Texas, United States – Living Waters Park is celebrating its new look, compliments of Home Depot.

Living Waters Park, which started in fall 2011 as a Capstone Project for the UT Arlington students of David Hopman, ASLA, Associate Professor, Landscape Architect, is now a full-fledged community service project empowering an underserved Fort Worth community. The project mission is to “provide an economic stimulus to East Fort Worth by providing water and land stewardship that targets arts, recreation, and science, while preserving the beauty of Lake Arlington and celebrating our diverse community.”

As a 501c3, funds generated by Living Waters Park Organization (LWPO), will be used to train, hire and otherwise serve the community. Home Depot feels strongly about empowering people to serve and give back to their community and engage organizations that are making a strong and lasting impact to their community. Safety and compliance to safety regulations are values that LWPO hold in high regard in its plan to serve older adults, children, and those living with disabilities.

The gated fence project was supplied with 100% of the materials donated from The Home Depot. Demonstrating how doers get more done, their leadership motivated others in the community to join in. Arlington Fence, owned by Max Koch, with Q.D.&E Fencing owned by Corey Whitely and Riderz, Inc. Motorcycle Club, provided the labor. The fence having aesthetic appeal, is inviting to participants, demonstrates community pride and also a meets safety needs and objectives.

Living Waters Park will be the home of an 8-bedroom lodge, wedding chapel, botanical garden, amphitheater, children’s discovery woods, sports court, and much more. The plans are to launch a 40-slip marina with a yacht club and bait/shop. Trustee and Founder, Hazel Wiltz, explains that “the most innovative and compelling aspects are the high level of inclusivity, academic delivery without walls, community access, job creation and mitigation of the negative impacts of COVID on mental health.”

Councilwoman Gyna Bivens, District 5, praised the efforts of Living Waters Park. She has said, “It is amazing that we have this gem hidden in Fort Worth, on the east side where there is a need for economic development, and we don’t work this land.” Living Waters Park Organization extends its deepest gratitude to Home Depot, all other supporters and invites more community members, companies, and organizations to join their efforts to raise $8,200,000 to support their incredible mission to improve quality of life for community members while diminishing negative ecological impacts because the establishment of Living Waters Park is solely by and for the community.
