Omahans Gain Access to “Fastest Major ISP in the Country” — Metronet

Nebraska Marks 17th State for Metronet

Metronet today announced that ultra-high-speed, 100% fiber-optic internet is now starting to become available to residents and businesses of the city of Omaha, Douglas County, and neighboring communities. Named America’s “Fastest Major ISP” by PCMag, Metronet’s presence in Nebraska marks the 17th state in which the company is building and operating its customer-friendly, fiber-optic-only service, a move that builds upon the company’s westward growth.

Metronet’s 24-month construction process in Douglas County began earlier this summer and customers in the company’s initial construction areas now have access to Metronet’s internet service with speeds of up to five gigabits per second for homes and ten gigabits per second for businesses.

Residents and businesses interested in Metronet services may visit metronet.com/ne/omaha to sign up for service installation or receive construction updates.

“With Metronet expanding to serve Douglas County, we’re going to see broader access to world-class internet speeds,” said Roger Garcia, the Douglas County Commissioner and County Board Chair. “We appreciate Metronet’s substantial investment in the future success of Douglas County and the City of Omaha.”

“Expanding our fiber-optic network to Nebraska marks an exciting milestone in our westward expansion as Metronet extends its reach to the 17th state in our service roster,” said Ben Ruzick, Metronet regional vice president. “At Metronet, we are committed to expanding access to dependable fiber-optic internet service. We firmly believe in the transformative power of our infrastructure and its ability to drive communities toward a brighter future. We extend our gratitude to Mayor Stothert, the council, Commissioner Chair Roger Garcia, the county commission, and the entire community for their support as we expand our network.”

“As our service area grows, we look forward to serving more people and businesses. Our commitment is to deliver the fastest speeds consumers deserve before they know they’re needed,” added Ruzick.

Recognized as the country’s “Fastest Major ISP” by PCMag two years in a row, Metronet will equip Omaha’s residents and businesses with the fastest, 100% fiber-optic multi-gigabit speeds in the nation. With access to Metronet directly from their home or businesses, consumers can tap into symmetrical upload and download speeds.

As construction progresses, Omaha residents will continue to see Metronet trucks in the area. Residents will receive communication by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to the start date. Additional notifications, such as yard signs, will also inform residents of upcoming construction. Metronet crews will be identifiable by ID tags and branded vehicles.

Metronet plans to hire local market management positions, sales and customer service professionals and service technicians to support the Omaha area. Those interested in joining the Metronet team can visit metronet.com/careers to search available positions and to submit applications.
