New Managing Director to Oversee Strategy, Growth of Firm’s Clean Energy Development Platform
Advantage Capital, a leading impact investment firm, today announced it has named energy executive Steven Lichtin as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Advantage Renewables. In this capacity, Lichtin will lead and oversee the firm’s growing renewable energy development platform.
A seasoned clean energy developer, Lichtin brings nearly 15 years of experience developing solar and energy storage projects in various markets across the U.S. He has managed and developed projects totaling more than 10GWs, and directly overseen the commercialization of more than 1GW of solar and energy storage projects.
“We are happy to welcome Steven to the team and have him guide our renewable energy development platform through its next phase of growth,” said Scott Murphy, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer, Advantage Capital. “His background will be invaluable as we work to expand our footprint and impact in renewables, completing our commitment to be a responsible developer that respects neighbors and local landscapes.”
Advantage Renewables aims to bring businesses, jobs and technologies to communities that have historically lacked access to investment by financing and developing high-impact, utility-scale solar and energy storage projects that expand access to clean energy solutions. Lichtin’s appointment will support the firm’s momentum in the renewables space, advancing its goal of bringing sustainable, low-cost energy solutions to underserved areas nationwide.
“It’s an honor to join this dedicated and extremely talented team,” said Lichtin. “With a mandate to develop clean energy across the U.S. and the backing of an established and industry leading impact investment firm, we are well positioned for success.”
Prior to joining Advantage Renewables, Lichtin was Vice President of Development at Cypress Creek Renewables (CCR), a solar and energy storage independent power producer (IPP), where he led all development activities for the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), PJM interconnection (PJM) and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) regions. Before CCR, he was Director of Development at esVolta, an energy storage IPP, where he led development activities for ERCOT, PJM, ISO New England (ISO-NE) and the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO). In these roles, Lichtin was responsible for managing the entire pipeline from site origination, through permitting and interconnection, to the start of construction.
Lichtin earned his MBA in Sustainability from Bard College and his BA in Economics from Vanderbilt University.
