Connections Fostered metric tracks changes and lets companies benchmark

Culture Graph is a system that gauges the health of an organization by measuring the strength of employee connections and unearthing hidden networks within the organization. The new feature will help companies analyze their employee engagement and connection to identify opportunities for team-building and collaboration.

Traditionally, organizational cultural health and engagement have been monitored through means such as surveys (e.g., team surveys and individual interviews), Human Resources (HR) statistics (e.g., employee retention rates), and monitoring of communications outside of the organization (e.g., Glassdoor.com). Most of these means are prone to error, due to their incompleteness and susceptibility to biases and intimidation. In many cases, these indicators of organizational problems may be backward-looking or become apparent only when the problems become severe.

In a November 2023 Gallup poll, employee engagement trends show 50% of U.S. employees are not engaged, and 17% are actively disengaged. Not engaged or actively disengaged employees account for approximately $1.9 trillion in lost productivity nationally.

Airspeed’s Culture Graph visually reveals the cultural health of an organization and generates recommendations to improve connection. Gallup revealed that highly connected, engaged teams have 23% higher profitability and 81% difference in absenteeism. The Culture Graph analyzes employee to employee engagement (“Connections Fostered”), including commonalities such as location or interests, so managers and leaders can understand the strength of employee connections and identify vulnerabilities.

Chief People Officers can easily analyze departments to determine if the team members are well connected or poorly connected. For example, if they found the Customer Success team to be poorly connected, they could encourage the team to leverage virtual coffee chats and weekly icebreakers to improve team connection. This analysis helps leaders prioritize time and resources, such as team-building activities, to improve engagement – therefore boosting productivity, retention, and profitability.
