Solar Microgrid EV Manufacturer Paired Power Appoints Sam Valles as Head of Manufacturing and Production

Paired Power, a leader in innovative solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions such as PairTree™ and PairFleet™ microgrid solar EV charging stations, is excited to announce the appointment of Sam Valles as Head of Manufacturing and Production. Valles brings over 25 years of leadership experience across manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and product development, with a proven track record of driving growth and process development efficiency in cutting-edge industries.

In his new role, Valles will play a crucial part in advancing Paired Power’s mission to transform the EV charging landscape with clean, resilient energy solutions. He will oversee the organization of the manufacturing line and the development of scalable processes to meet rising demand. Additionally, he will lead efforts to qualify the production facility for ISO 9000 certification, a critical industry standard.

ISO 9000, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), ensures that Paired Power's manufacturing processes meet the highest quality management standards, fostering consistency, reliability, and continuous improvement. Achieving this certification will further solidify Paired Power's reputation for delivering industry-leading, high-quality products.

Valles will also scale production for the company’s flagship PairTree solar-powered EV chargers, which provide microgrid charging as an integrated system including bifacial solar panels, battery storage, and AI-driven software controls. Ideal for remote locations or during power outages, the PairTree chargers, alongside Paired Power's larger capacity electric vehicle PairFleet solutions, are designed to meet the growing need for resilient, sustainable charging infrastructure where grid capacity is constrained.

"Sam’s leadership and ability to optimize complex manufacturing processes will be invaluable as Paired Power accelerates its production capabilities and expands into new markets," said Tom McCalmont, CEO of Paired Power. "His track record of successfully guiding innovative products from concept to market aligns perfectly with our mission to provide sustainable and resilient energy solutions."

With Valles’s leadership, Paired Power aims to solidify its position at the forefront of the solar microgrid EV charging sector, ensuring that its products not only meet the demands of a rapidly evolving clean energy market but also push the boundaries of what’s possible in renewable energy technology. Paired Power's products are already setting the standard for energy resilience, providing microgrid charging for government fleets and commercial sites, while also contributing to the development of sustainable, distributed energy systems.

Throughout his career, Valles has demonstrated an exceptional ability to lead teams and deliver operational excellence across a variety of industries. Notably, he spearheaded the growth of a national electric car charger manufacturer, ramping up production from 200 to thousands of units per month while tripling revenue growth. Valles’s deep understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering – coupled with his leadership in process improvement and team development – has consistently resulted in successful product launches and operational transformations.

Valles has also held key leadership positions at Aeris/Project Canary, Emotorwerks/Enel X, and Pax Water Technologies – where he directed large-scale operations, facilitated rapid growth, and implemented process innovations that significantly improved production efficiency.

“I am thrilled to join Paired Power and contribute to its mission of transforming the EV charging landscape with solar-powered and microgrid solutions,” said Valles. “This is a company with a clear vision for the future of clean energy, and I look forward to working with the talented team to drive operational excellence and further expand our impact.”

Valles holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from San Jose State University and brings a hands-on approach to leadership that encourages innovation, team alignment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

With Valles’s appointment, Paired Power strengthens its position as a key player in the clean energy revolution, delivering reliable, microgrid charging solutions that support a sustainable future.

About Paired Power

Paired Power manufactures solar and microgrid electric vehicle charger facilities (EVCF) that pair solar energy with EV charging, energy storage, and the grid. Paired Power’s flagship product is PairTree™, a microgrid EV charger that pairs a 4.6kW solar array with a 42.4 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to provide Level 2 EV charging day or night. The company specializes in microgrid solutions for EV fleet charging that power transportation through resilient electrification without requiring utility upgrades. Born out of over two decades of sister company McCalmont Engineering’s designs, knowledge, and experience of large-scale renewables projects, Paired Power pioneered and developed the technology to charge EVs directly from solar panels in 2016 and has been the leading innovator in this space since its founding. Based in Campbell, California, Paired Power is an American manufacturer whose products are eligible for solar and EV charger incentives at the 40% ITC rate for U.S. manufacturers under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
