- Company Thanks its Frontline Heroes with Warehouse Employee Appreciation and National Truck Driver Appreciation Week Festivities -
Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (“Southern Glazer’s”)—the world’s pre-eminent distributor of beverage alcohol—is recognizing National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, created by the American Trucking Associations, from September 11 – 17. In addition to showing appreciation for its professional truck drivers, Southern Glazer’s celebrated its annual Warehouse Employee Appreciation Week, a week-long celebration of the Company’s warehouse personnel, from August 8 –12. These frontline employees operate 14.8 million square feet of warehouse space and make 6.4 million customer deliveries possible each year.
“Our truck drivers and warehouse employees are at the heart of all we do,” said Bobby Burg, Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer, Southern Glazer’s. “It’s because of their hard work and invaluable talents that we’re able to successfully serve our suppliers and customers. We are thankful for them every single day and appreciate the opportunity to express our deep gratitude through these special week-long observances.”
This National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we are recognizing the professional men and women who not only deliver our goods safely, securely, and on time, but also keep our highways safe. The recent, unforgettable service during the COVID-19 pandemic was a powerful reminder that professional truck drivers always step up when needed most and have kept the economy on its feet despite facing unprecedented obstacles.
As part of the week-long celebration across its U.S. branches, Southern Glazer’s will gift polo shirts and hats to its professional drivers, as well as host various festivities throughout the week, from catered breakfasts and lunches, to raffles and prizes.
Southern Glazer’s warehouse employees were also celebrated over the summer, with teams enjoying food trucks, music, appreciation gifts, and more. Southern Glazer’s warehouse staff enable the Company to safely deliver thousands of world-class wine and spirits brands to customers every day.
“We’re lucky to have some of the best warehouse employees and professional drivers in the country as part of our team,” said Ron Flanary, Senior Vice President of National Operations, Southern Glazer’s. “Every year, I look forward to raising a glass to our frontline heroes during these week-long celebrations. However, the critical work that our drivers and warehouse staff achieve daily is constantly appreciated.”
Programs are in place for both professional drivers and warehouse employees to reinforce Southern Glazer’s unwavering commitment to safety. For example, the Elite Safe Driver Recognition Program is available to all drivers who qualify based on having 20 consecutive quarters, or five years, of safe driving without a preventable collision. Rewards include a gold ring set and monetary bonuses.
“Thank you to the remarkable individuals who make up Southern Glazer’s team of professional drivers and warehouse employees,” said Kay Yoder, Vice President of Environmental, Health, Safety & Business Continuity, Southern Glazer’s. “Safety is at the forefront of all we do, and we’re proud to see our employees take this to heart in their day-to-day responsibilities. We’re so appreciative of your work.”
