University of Phoenix Offers Certificates in Education to Help Teachers Expand Their Skill Set and Prepare for Professional Licensure

Certificates provide opportunities to build skills in elementary, secondary and special education

University of Phoenix offers skills-mapped certificate programs in education to help prospective teachers and education professionals build their skills, enhance their professional profiles, and prepare for teaching licensure. The education certificate courses, in elementary education, secondary education, and special education, are built around today’s in-demand job skills in the field of education.

Staffing shortages in school systems across the country outline the need for qualified teachers. University of Phoenix education certificate programs offer an initial route to teacher licensure intended for students without teaching experience, combining academic theory and coursework with a clinical component made up of student teaching and field experiences.

“Teaching remains an incredibly rewarding career path paved with moments that shape young lives and the future,” states Pamela Roggeman, Ed.D., dean, College of Education at the University. “Our Graduate Initial Teacher Certificate programs help new teachers understand how to design and implement effective instruction and behavioral plans in the classroom to positively impact student learning, demonstrate professional dispositions and ethical conduct, and create innovative strategies and incorporate technology in a classroom setting.”

University of Phoenix focuses on developing, offering, and regularly updating career relevant degree programs for busy working adults. Career paths related the education certificate programs include positions such as elementary education teacher, high school teacher, resource classroom teacher, or intervention specialist.

The education certificate curricula align to teacher licensure requirements from the Arizona Department of Education and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. They also align to professional standards of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC).

University of Phoenix education program specialists can help education certificate students navigate teacher licensure and credentialing requirements. Additionally, through partnerships with hundreds of school districts nationwide, the College of Education aids with field placements for clinical experience and clinical practice.

Credits from these certificate programs can apply toward a related Master of Arts in Education at the University.

Each education certificate program requires 24 to 27 credit hours to completion. Learn more here about the University of Phoenix education certificate programs.
