Los Cabos Mexico’s Coveted Group Expands to Northern Arizona and Wisconsin

LOS CABOS, MEXICO / ACCESSWIRE / August 27, 2024 / The Coveted Group, under the visionary leadership of Founder and CEO Derrick Grahn, is unveiling two transformative real estate projects: Smith Butte Ranch in northern Arizona and Meilahn Farms in rural Wisconsin.

Derrick Grahn defies the typical developer stereotype. A self-made entrepreneur with a background in sculpture from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he attended on a full scholarship, Derrick's journey began far from the halls of wealth and finance.

Born in Las Vegas to parents descended from Wisconsin farmers, Derrick's story is one of vision, creativity, and relentless ambition, seemingly woven into his DNA. His parents, who married out of high school, left their rural pastoral roots behind in search of greater opportunities. Their journey began in Las Vegas before they found modest success through several entrepreneurial ventures in other states. Derrick spent his formative years in Boca Raton, Florida, and Del Mar, California, before pursuing higher education in Chicago, where his unique path truly began to take shape.

"Derrick is a force of nature," says longtime friend Brion Hickey. "In the '90s, Derrick was instrumental in shaping Chicago's nightlife, producing legendary underground rave parties and captivating art installations." A bona fide serial entrepreneur, Derrick flourished in diverse fields-he was a gifted graphic designer, electronic music producer, interior designer, and unyielding creator. His ventures included designing and launching nightclubs, retail stores, marketing agencies, restaurants, and art galleries. "Derrick can create anything," Hickey continued, praising his remarkable skills in glassblowing, textile fabrication, welding, and woodworking. Derrick's unbounded creativity even extended to screenwriting, culminating in the independent cult classic Street Thief. A true maverick, Derrick finds absolute joy in working 14 to 18-hour days, seven days a week, because it's not work for him-it's his passion and life's calling.

After moving to Cabo in the 2000s, Derrick, along with his wife and partner, Anastasia, quickly began planting roots while building a diverse array of startups. Their ventures included restaurants, an event production service, a celebrity logistics firm, a skincare line called Santo Cabo, and an advertising agency that published a high-end coffee table magazine, Cabo Social. In 2011, they launched The Coveted Group, an innovative new addition to their portfolio of Los Cabos enterprises.

Shortly after its inception, The Coveted Group emerged as one of the Grahn's cornerstone business ventures. It started with Derrick's notable contributions to the real estate arm of Cabo's iconic Flora Farms. Coveted has since expanded its reach with ambitious development projects on Cabo's East Cape, such as Casa Blanca by Coveted and Nine Palms Ranch, the latter recently attracting an impressive $8.5 million investment.

Derrick's hands-on approach is legendary. Known for his "big pushes"-his team's term for his spontaneous, week-long intensive sessions-where Derrick works tirelessly alongside his crew. These efforts, involving nearly round-the-clock planning and execution, rapidly advance projects in short periods.

In an organic twist of fate, Derrick's journey has come full circle. Half a century after his parents left the family farm, he and his wife acquired the last 120 acres of Meilahn Farms-the very land where his mother was born and raised, where his grandfather, Nelson Meilahn, founded The Oaks Farm Dairy, the area's first vertically integrated dairy, delivering milk directly to people's doorsteps, and a farm that's been in his family since the 1800s.

The Grahn's acquisition of Meilahn Farms aims to preserve and share the farm for future generations through Derrick's innovative development vision. Under their stewardship, Meilahn Farms is entering a new chapter: the tillable cash crop land has been newly planted with wildflowers and wild grasses, restoring the farm's aesthetics to its 19th-century roots. The farm's 1950s dairy quonset has been transformed into a special events venue. Soon, bespoke cabins will be nestled within the property, complemented by walking paths and uniquely curated wellness amenities.

As The Coveted Group continues its ascent into the U.S. market, Derrick's passion extends to Smith Butte Ranch, a sprawling 200-acre off-grid sanctuary near Flagstaff, Williams, and Sedona, Arizona. Like their other properties, Smith Butte will feature amenities designed to nurture the soul, ignite adventure, and foster tranquility. Guests will enjoy an unparalleled off-grid experience, highlighted by Smith Butte's naturally filtered, crystal-clear swimming hole, heated by waters from its adjacent hot mineral soaking tub.

The Coveted Group's real estate projects are a testament to Derrick's artistic roots and old-school principles. He profoundly appreciates not only his clients, investors, and team but also the lands themselves, which act as both hosts and canvases for his visions. Each destination is designed to elevate both nature and the human experience for generations. Every Coveted Group project is an artistic masterpiece where nature, architecture, and creativity converge to form landmarks intended to stand the test of time.
