Taking place on August 3 to kickstart the month of black philanthropy, Black Philanthropy Month is proud to announce a stellar panel of speakers across the fields of philanthropy, venture funding, and impact investing, including Gillian Marcelle, the CEO and founder of Resilience Capital Ventures LLC, Chinedu Enekwe, Partner at Passbook Ventures and the co-founder and president of African Digital Art, and Ebonie Johnson-Cooper, the Executive Director of Young, Black & Giving Back Institute.

Gillian Marcelle has a proven track record in attracting investments to underserved markets, and designing architectures that facilitate partnerships. Her contributions and perspectives on diversity, inclusion, and accountability are fast-becoming influential in the finance and investment world, while her public service in the international space has birthed appointments with the United Nations and World Economic Forum.

Chinedu Enekwe began his creative journey as a performance poet, before expanding into the venture capital industry, and launching his own fund that invests in US immigrants building tools for the future of commerce. Thriving at the cross-section of creative artists and impact investing, Enewke is also the co-producer of the audio adaptation of classic Broadway musical FELA!

Ebonie Johnson-Cooper believes black giving is magic and she lives this as the founder of the Young, Black & Giving Back Institute. For over a decade, she has used her thought-leadership and expertise to support projects related to non-profit DEI, African American donor engagement, partnership development and fundraising strategies, and she is widely regarded for her innovations around NextGen African American philanthropy.

Alongside this array of expert speakers and panellists for the global kick-off summit to officially launch Black Philanthropy Month 2022 on August 3, we are also excited to announce Grammy Award-winning musician and R&B/soul legend Bilal as our 2022 Cultural Innovator, who will be opening the kick-off summit with a highly anticipated live music performance.

After the global kick-off summit on August 3, the Black Philanthropy Month 2022 Summit will continue with global virtual and in-person events throughout the month of August across the US, Africa Brazil, Canada and the Caribbean, before culminating on August 31 with Reunity, BPM's international Black women funders' power and wellness network and summit, which is a collaboration with the Women's Philanthropy Institute at Indiana University's Lilly School of Philanthropy for the second year, to host the Black Women Give Back Awards (BWGB).

Inspired by the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., this year's theme for the Black Philanthropy Month 2022 Summit is "Fierce Equity of Now: From Dream to Action."

Speaking about the Black Philanthropy Month 2022 summit, BPM Founder Dr. Jackie Bouvier Copeland says, "at this critical crossroads in our history, we're amplifying BPM's dual-track of celebrating our giving and making equity real. With Ayo Tometi, an original BPM co-organizer from 2010-2011, and the return of Bakari Sellers, we're excited to go back to our future, calling for unity across the US and global Black Diaspora towards justice for all."

The 2022 Black Philanthropy Summit takes place from August 3 to August 31 across the US, Africa, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, and affiliated events worldwide.
