Brilliant Actor Oscar® nominee I had the absolute pleasure to direct in my film Tomorrow's Today, was a great and loving spirit to work with. #Rocky co-star Burt was patient and delivered an award winning performance every take. Burt Young, famed for his Oscar-nominated role as Paulie in the legendary 1976 Best Picture winner, Rocky, passed away in Los Angeles on October 8 at the age of 83, as confirmed by his daughter to The New York Times. His most recent director, Timothy Hines, expresses his condolences over Young's passing.

Burt Young, a prominent actor renowned for his Oscar-nominated portrayal as Paulie in the iconic 1976 Best Picture winner, Rocky, passed away in Los Angeles on October 8. The news of his demise, at the age of 83, was confirmed by his daughter to The New York Times. Timothy Hines, the last director to work with Burt Young, mourns his death.

Burt Young’s last performance on the silver screen was as Luca in Timothy Hines’ crime comedy Tomorrow’s Today, for which Young was an Oscar® contender at this years 95th Academy Awards. In addition to being considered for an Oscar for his role in Tomorrow's Today, Young also won numerous International Film Festival awards including Best Supporting Actor at the Marina Del Rey Film Festival.

Director Timothy Hines took time off from post production of his new movie, The Wilde Girls starring Lydia Pearl Pentz, Cali Scolari and Teddy Smith to pay tribute to the late Burt Young on Facebook and X, formerly Twitter. Young, whose over 160 screen credits encompassed charismatic delinquents, gritty urban toughs, and elderly gangsters who exuded a formidable presence even as his hair embraced the silver hue of wisdom.

"Brilliant actor and Academy Award nominee whom I had the absolute pleasure to direct in my film Tomorrow's Today, Burt Young, passed away today," mourns director Timothy Hines, "Burt was a great and loving spirit to work with. The co-star of Rocky and Micky Blue Eyes was patient with production logistics and every take delivered an award winning performance. He was generous with his time for fans who approached him. He was kind to the cast and crew. I am grateful to Dominick Martini for casting Burt Young in the production and I count myself privileged to have directed the brilliant acting legend in one of his last pictures. He will be deeply missed."

Producer Susan Goforth offered condolences on X formerly Twitter, "Blessed be the great @burtyoungartist whose giant heart made him a great actor. Burt Young won Best Supporting Actor in Tomorrow's Today @mdrfilmfestival and was up for an Oscar for the crime comedy. My deepest condolences to his family."
