February 17, 2022 /3BL Media/ - AMD has been named by Newsweek in the ranking of America’s Most Responsible Companies.
America’s Most Responsible Companies are selected based on publicly available key performance indicators derived from company-issued reports as well as an independent survey of U.S. residents. The final list recognizes the top 500 most responsible companies in the United States across environmental, social and governance (ESG). For example, AMD ranked #8 in the environmental category among all evaluated companies.
The most recent AMD Corporate Responsibility Report highlighted the company’s ESG performance and unveiled new goals spanning its priorities in digital impact, environmental stewardship, supply chain responsibility, and diversity, belonging and inclusion.
AMD high-performance computing solutions are used to solve some of the world’s toughest challenges including scientific research, education, energy and climate, healthcare and other exciting fields. World-record-setting energy-efficient AMD EPYC™ server processors power 12 of the top 15 most energy-efficient supercomputers in the world (as of November 2021).[i] Looking forward, the company aims to achieve a 30x increase in energy efficiency by 2025 for AMD processors and accelerators powering servers for the rapidly growing markets of artificial intelligence (AI)-training and high-performance computing (HPC).[ii]
And, through the AMD COVID-19 High Performance Compute Fund, AMD computing resources are helping 25 universities and research institutions accelerate medical research on COVID-19 and other diseases. The more than 12 petaflops of donated computing power, if combined, would rank among the fastest supercomputers in the world.[iii]
For more than 50 years AMD has driven innovation in high-performance computing, graphics and visualization technologies. Billions of people, leading Fortune 500 businesses and cutting-edge scientific research institutions around the world rely on AMD technology daily to improve how they live, work and play. AMD employees are focused on building leadership high-performance and adaptive products that push the boundaries of what is possible. [ii] Includes AMD high-performance CPU and GPU accelerators used for AI training and High-Performance Computing in a 4-Accelerator, CPU hosted configuration. Goal calculations are based on performance scores as measured by standard performance metrics (HPC: Linpack DGEMM kernel FLOPS with 4k matrix size. AI training: lower precision training-focused floating-point math GEMM kernels such as FP16 or BF16 FLOPS operating on 4k matrices) divided by the rated power consumption of a representative accelerated compute node including the CPU host + memory, and 4 GPU accelerators.
