Calls for Submissions - Auntyland Film Festival

Short Films by and for Aunties, Women, and BIPOC Artists

NEW YORK, NY, November 19, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Auntyland Film Festival (AFF) is accepting short length indie films by and for women and BIPOC artists for its inaugural film festival now through January 30, 2021. Get ahead of the holiday crowd and send your films and trailers (new or old) today!

"Auntyland Film Festival (AFF) is the only film festival embracing mature women filmmakers and artists of diverse cultures and background. Mature, experienced women 50+, are society's forgotten market segment. Yet, we are the majority world population and most powerful segment regarding net worth and education levels, according to AARP studies. AFF provides a place to reclaim our power to control the narratives about what's going on in ourselves and the world. And yes, we do need women's film festivals, for all ages, in general to embolden women and girls to see value in their stories, and in themselves as artists. We celebrate and amplify women's voices. Our stories help to wake up people, teach life lessons, and envision how we are all connected. Women spark unique conversations. Our AFF film festival is a place for your stories to sparkle and soar into the universe. We encourage filmmakers to join our multigenerational and multicultural festival and submit their films. Now through January 30, 2022. Just like your favorite auntie's home, all are welcome," said Sylvia Wong Lewis, film festival director and Auntyland founder, a multidisciplinary arts platform that celebrates diverse aunts.

"Yes, we want your auntie stories. We also welcome stories (trailers too) on any topic including food, cooking, gardening, sports, family, politics, home life, pets/animals, climate change, environment, LGBTQ themes, 'Only in New York' and more. Filmmakers are encouraged to bring a bold realness that aunties bring to our lives. We offer cash prizes, special events, and a distinguished panel of judges who will choose the films," Lewis added.

Important Dates: Regular deadline, January 30, 2022; Extended Deadline, February 17, 2022; and Notification Date, February 24, 2022. The festival kicks off on International Women's Day and runs through Women's History Month, March 8- March 31, 2022. The submission fee is $25.

Auntyland is proudly sponsored by FilmFreeway, the world's #1 way to enter film festivals and creative contests. To submit a film, visit: https://filmfreeway.com/AuntylandFilmFest

Auntyland Film Festival, a community-based Tribeca, New York City event, is part of a multidisciplinary arts platform that operates at the intersection of identity, gender, and age. Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC), Aunties, and artists on the margins from all background are encouraged to participate, according to Sylvia Wong Lewis, an award-winning BIPOC filmmaker, journalist and community volunteer.
