Fellow Employees:
Verizons announcement yesterday that it has reached a definitive agreement with Vodafone to purchase its 45 percent share in Verizon Wireless for $130 billion opens an exciting new chapter for our future. When the transaction closes in the first quarter of 2014, subject to regulatory and shareholders approvals, our company will be wholly owned by Verizon.
This is great news for us and our customers. Verizon has expressed interest in buying out Vodafone for many years and the time is right now to make that happen. Our business has been very successful under the Verizon-Vodafone partnership; however, full ownership by Verizon gives the company the flexibility to adapt and innovate more quickly and expands opportunities for efficiencies and delivering shareholder value. Well also be better positioned to produce seamless and integrated products and solutions for our customers using all the technology assets and platforms across Verizon.
As we move toward our new future together, I ask that you stay focused on our customers and continue to provide them the superior wireless experience they expect from us. We have much to accomplish in the third and fourth quarters of 2013 and beyond. We need to continue to make winning in the marketplace our top priority by offering customers the most reliable network, best devices and outstanding support whenever they need it.
Lets use this announcement to demonstrate our commitment to our customers and to remain the best wireless company in the industry as part of Verizon.
Thank you for your continuing hard work and dedication. Without your focus over the years this would not have been possible. Its compelling proof why Results Matter.
