Thropic: Where Social Impact and Blockchain Technology Intersect

SAN FRANCISCO, CA / ACCESSWIRE / December 8, 2021 / A trusted service provider to non-profits since 2019, Thropic is an emerging donor tech company that employs a decentralized finance-focused approach to charity work. Founder and CEO, Max Skinner, cultivated his steadfast commitment to nonprofits through the combination of passion, empathy, and hardship. Upon entering the world of philanthropy, Skinner quickly realized that many nonprofits struggled to appeal to young donors, due largely to outdated fundraising strategies and a lack of engaging methods.

In an attempt to broaden and diversify charity engagement in a modern way, he arrived on the conceptual foundation of Thropic, a company that has since solidified itself at the intersection of social impact causes and crypto-philanthropists. Led by a diverse team of crypto-natives and charity experts, Thropic completely shifted its focus to help nonprofits bridge their existing communities over to Web3.

The company officially entered the blockchain space in June 2021, with the launch of their very own charity crypto token - Thropic Coin - in which 5% of each transaction is distributed to a charity wallet. At the end of each month, Thropic Coin stakeholders can vote to decide where the funds raised through transaction fees get disbursed. Using this fundraising model alone, Thropic has been able to raise over $250,000 for charity, of which they committed $150,000 to The Trevor Project as part of LGBT Pride month in June 2021. Skinner feels as though they've barely scratched the surface of the coin's potential and anticipates an influx in use as the company shifts into new spaces.

"It has been validating to see such generosity and charitable appetite from the broader crypto community. We truly believe that adding blockchain into the equation will completely shift the way nonprofits engage with younger donors."

Building off the coin's momentum, Thropic also recently launched an NFT (non-fungible token) platform designed to connect creators and social impact causes through a single decentralized exchange. The product is multi-crypto and credit card friendly, Ethereum and Solana compatible, and offers built-in donations, automatic revenue splits and a novel tax receipt system. Creators can elect to donate a percentage of their NFT sales to a charity of their choice from a database of over 1.8 million vetted nonprofit organizations.

Nonprofits that are interested in entering the space can also release their own custom-branded NFT collections using Thropic's platform. With transparency at the forefront of its values, stakeholders can track how their money is being utilized through a donor follow-up system. The platform is the first of its kind to offer non-profits the ability to utilize NFT digital asset sales as a fundraising mechanism.

Thropic's tech team, led by CTO Uri Charles, continuously finds innovative ways to engage donors and improve the fundraising process and transparency of donations. The team leans on the pillars that differentiate the use of crypto and Web3 from archaic methods of fundraising through an ecosystem of self-ownership, self-governance, and self-sustainability.
