Banco do Brasil
is the new depositary bank for the Petrobras shares
(Rio
de Janeiro, August 31, 2004) - PETRÓLEO BRASILEIRO S/A - PETROBRAS, [Bovespa:
PETR3/PETR4, NYSE: PBR/PBRA, Latibex: XPBR/XPBRA], a Brazilian international energy
company, announces that has held a tender for the provision of custody and registry
services for its shares and the winning institution was Banco do Brasil S.A. Banco Itaú S.A.,
which currently provides the services, will attend to shareholders until September
2, 2004. As from September 3, 2004, the Petrobras shareholders will be able
to obtain information about their shareholding position, dividends, updating records,
etc. at any branch of Banco do Brasil S.A. or through the Call Center BB Responde via
the number 0800-785678.
